East End: Hoxton Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Old Spitalfield Market

Much like the West End, the East End is a coarse term describing some of the the eastern areas of London, opposite the West End. I am not using the term too strictly. East End in my selection includes: Hoxton, Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Old Spitalfield market, Columbia Road, Broadway Market, the Billingsgate Fish Market and part of the Thames, e.g. Wapping.

Shoreditch & Hoxton

Shoreditch and Hoxton are the hipster area of London. Bars, cafés and craft beer pubs are door to door with small shops.

Brick Lane

Brick Lane is very close to Shoreditch and is the heart of the Bangladeshi community. It also offers a fantastic variety of food markets, restaurants, vintage shops and flee markets.

Old Spitalfields Market

On the location of the Old Spitalfields Market there have been markets for more than 350 years.

Today it houses a very nice flee market and has the advantage that, opposed to other London markets, it has a roof.
